Disney Females: Living in America Part 1/3

What if all of the Disney females lived in modern American cities? Which ones would they choose to live in?

(*Note, I comprised this list of where they would want to live as a free-choosing adult, not where they would have been born and raised. That is another list. PS: If this post sounds familiar, it's because it used to just include the Princesses but I decided to add the other Disney females to the list!)

For the sake of organization, I have chosen to divide the characters by "regions", which include: Pacific, Rocky Mountain, Southwest/Desert, Midwest, Northeast & Southeast (there are pictures to show which specific states are included in these regions.)

Pacific Region

Alice: Portland, Oregon

"Portland, Oregon’s largest city, sits on the Columbia and Willamette rivers, in the shadow of snow-capped Mount Hood. It’s known for its parks, bridges and bicycle paths, as well as for its eco-friendliness and its microbreweries and coffeehouses. Iconic Washington Park encompasses sites from the formal Japanese Garden to Oregon Zoo and its railway. The city hosts thriving art, theater and music scene." This city is known for being very eclectic, artistic and creative - with primarily liberal leanings. Besides it's cultural options - such as the Washington Park, Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (planetarium, submarine, etc.) and Pittock Mansion - this city also has a lot of natural beauty nearby - such as the Multnomah Falls, Mount Saint Helens and Cannon Beach. This would be a perfect "Wonderland" fitting for Alice.

Alana: Beverly Hills, California

"Home to many Hollywood stars, it features the upscale shopping street of Rodeo Drive. The expansive Beverly Gardens Park has fountains and rose gardens, plus an illuminated Beverly Hills sign." Alana appreciates beauty and the finer things in life, so what better place than Beverly Hills? Furthermore, she's into organic cosmetology - something that would be very welcomed in Beverly Hills!

Anita: San Franciso, California

Mei: Santa Monica, California

Santa Monica is a very popular place for people who just want to have a lot of fun. The Pier offers a beautifully-lit boardwalk (including the ferris wheel), as well as Pacific Park - a miniature "amusement park" with rides, games and an arcade - on the pier itself. Not only are there little shops on this pier as well, but there is also essentially an indoor and outdoor mall located just blocks away! Since Mei loves the idea of just having fun and being in love, this would be a perfect place for her to enjoy her time with Yao.

Nani: Honolulu, Hawaii

Not only does Honolulu have a ton to offer, but most importantly to Nani, it is home of "The father of modern surfing" who was "instrumental in helping to spread the sport of surfing and the spirit of aloha around the world." Today, Honolulu is still known as one of the best spots on earth to go surfing. Since Nani seemed to love surfing more than anything - as it often helped her forget about her worries - it's hard to imagine she'd want to live anywhere else.

Lilo: Venice, California

Lilo was always a "black sheep" in the sense that her peers always treated her like the "weird outcast" - or at least since she'd lost her parents. From an objective point of view, Lilo isn't very traditional or stereotypical etc. She loves Elvis - and presumably Rock & Roll, has a very morbid artistic taste, and has a lot of feelings. Venice Beach is "most famous for the quirky goings-on along its iconic beachfront boardwalk, where street entertainers and vendors create an unforgettable scene of local characters and happenings". In this town, she wouldn't be a "weird outcast", she'd be one of the "local characters" (along with Stitch 😄). She also loves swimming in the ocean - so living in an ocean town is imperative for her. And speaking of water, this town also has some beautiful little canals that I think Lilo would appreciate.

Rapunzel: Seattle, Washington

Merida: Berkeley, California

Berkeley is likely the most liberal city in California, and may very well be one of the most liberal cities in America. Because of Merida's personal values and specific personality, she'd be a perfect fit here.

Midwest Region

Cinderella: Minneapolis-St.Paul, Minnesota

Minneapolis is a city rich in culture and education. There are a lot of nice museums and tourist attractions such as the Walker Art Center, Como Park Zoo & Conservatory, Lyndale Park Gardens, Mississippi National River and Recreation Area and other parks and reserves. I think Cinderella would appreciate all of these beautiful outdoor locations - especially since it's so reminiscent of the courtyard where she fell in love and danced with the Prince. Furthermore, the residents tend to be very nice, humble, productive and friendly - just like Cinderella, so she'd fit in perfectly.

Shanti: Cincinnati, Ohio

"Cityscapes, river views, rolling hills and endless things to do, makes Cincinnati a perfect location for families." Like many mid-west locations, this city has a great family environment which is important to someone like Shanti, who is constantly looking after children - even when she's still a child herself! This family-friendly city has tons of fun stuff to do without losing too much of the natural landscape around, a combination that Shanti would appreciate!

Eilonwy: Grand Rapids, Michigan

"Experience the creative energy of Grand Rapids: dazzling art and culture, awesome dining and nightlife, inspiring natural beauty and exhilarating community spirit. Stroll our walkable downtown jam-packed with more than 100 restaurants, clubs, theaters and museums." Since Eilonwy is a very sensitive and caring person, she would love the artistic and compassionate nature in this town. She also has a lively and energetic spirit, so she would also appreciate the communal feel of all of the festivals as well as theaters and museums etc. This would be a perfect fit for Eilonwy's friendly disposition.

Aquata: Green Bay, Wisconsin

Belle: Chicago, Illinois

"Welcome to Chicago, the city that feels like home. Here we have a little something for everyone. You can visit world-class museums, dine at one of our many Michelin-star restaurants or catch a showin one of over 200 theaters. No matter what you love to do, you’ll feel right at home doing it here." "Chicago is a cultural hub with countless theaters and music venues. Enjoy the waterfront views from Navy Pier and then take a walk through time at the Chicago Natural History Museum." Belle seems to appreciate what life has to offer and has a yearning to experience new things. Chicago has a perfect balance of progress and tradition for her, as she is somewhat progressive and seeks change, knowledge and education, but she is also very modest and more conservative, putting family values first. Chicago has great museums and tourism which would allow her to learn and experience new things but it also maintains the classic mid-west vibe of being family-friendly.

Nakoma: Springfield, Missouri

Jane: Ann Arbor, Michigan

Ting-Ting: Indianapolis, Indiana

From the largest single-day sporting event in the world to the largest children’s museum in the world, it's easy to see that Indianapolis' culture thrives on being tough and family-oriented, as well as responsible and dutiful. Since Ting-Ting holds these values with the highest regards, she would absolutely love this place as her perfect home.

Tiana: St. Louis, Missouri

St. Louis is a major city in Missouri along the Mississippi River. Its iconic, 630-ft. Gateway Arch, built in the 1960s, honors the early 19th-century explorations of Lewis and Clark and America's westward expansion in general. Replica paddlewheelers [riverboats] ply the river, offering views of the arch. The Soulard district is home to barbecue restaurants and clubs playing blues music. Steamboats, BBQ food and blues music would help Tiana feel right at home in this new town! On the other hand, this town has a population that is more hard-working and ambitious than that of New Orleans, a change that Tiana would more than welcome into her life! No more dealing with an 'old town that can slow you down' with 'people taking the easy way'.

Disney Females: Born and Raised in America Part 3/3

What if all of the Disney Females were from American cities? Which ones would they be from?
(*Note, I comprised this list of where they would be born and raised from, not where they would be most suited as a free choosing adult. That is another list - coming soon as additions are being made. 😊 PS: If this post sounds familiar, it's because it used to just include the Princesses but I decided to add the other Disney females to the list!)

For the sake of organization, I have chosen to divide the characters by "regions", which include: Pacific, Rocky Mountain, Southwest/Desert, Midwest, Northeast & Southeast (there are pictures to show which specific states are included in these regions.)

Northeast Region:

Wendy: Wilmington, Delaware

This city is one of the major stops on the Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Railroad. It is also the home of a young and diverse population, there are tons of awesome ethnic festivals here, including the Italian Festival, Greek Festival, Polish Festival, and German Oktoberfest. This would explain Wendy's diverse and vivid imagination: living by the railroad thinking of traveling and fantasizing about Neverland which is a pretty eclectic place (like the ethnic festivals).

Penny: New York City, New York

The movie covered this one. 😊

Honorary Mention - Thumbelina: Providence, Rhode Island

"Roger Williams Park is a top-notch family attraction that has delighted generations of visitors. The zoo recently earned rave reviews and record attendance at the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular. The park also contains waterways, walks, Botanical Center, a Carousel Village, Museum of Natural History and Planetarium. The Alex and Ani City Center boasts wonderful ice skating downtown, featuring more ice than Rockefeller Center and the city's dynamic skyline as a backdrop." This small city matches the beauty of all of the various places in Thumbelina's stories, particularly in the "Let Me Be Your Wings" sequence.

Meg: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Coincidentally enough, Megara very much embodies Philadelphia as a female character. She has that snappy dialogue/banter that is very Philly-style, and she also has a tough personality like the women here. She'd fit in here perfectly.

Jane: Portland, Maine

Kida: Buffalo, New York

"Buffalo is a city on the shores of Lake Erie in upstate New York. Its fine neoclassical, beaux arts and art deco architecture speaks to its history as an industrial capital in the early 20th century. Its landmarks include the 398-ft art deco City Hall, the Frank Lloyd Wright–designed Darwin D. Martin House and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, a Greek Revival museum with works by Picasso and Warhol." With such architectural and artistic emphasis, this place definitely brings Atlantis to mind. Furthermore, it's very close to the infamous Niagara Falls, similar to the stunning waterfalls near Atlantis.

Merida: Boston, Massachusetts

Not only is Boston the city that launched the American Revolution, but it's still a very tough city today. Merida is devoted to being "liberated" and free to do as she pleases - and she also fought for her peers (the princes from the nearby "kingdoms") to have the same freedom of choice as her. This city has a high value on resiliency (like Merida's father), but there is also a high value on education (like Merida's mother) as it is close to Harvard, the Ivy League college. Merida and her family would all fit in perfectly here.

Southeast Region:

Cinderella & Anastasia & Drizella Tremaine: Dallas, Texas

Most of Texas is known for being conservative and Dallas tends to be a hub for wealth and status - which would explain the Evil Stepmom & Stepsisters' greed and obsession with status (not saying all Dallas people or Texans are that way - after all, it's where Prince Charming would live too!). It's also a beautiful city, just like the one in Cinderella's movie.

Pocahontas & Nakoma: Richmond, Virginia

The movie/real life covered this one. 😊

Tiana & Charlotte: New Orleans, Louisiana

The movie covered this one. 😊

Rapunzel: Memphis, Tennessee
