(*Note, I comprised this list of where they would want to live as a free-choosing adult, not where they would have been born and raised. That is another list. PS: If this post sounds familiar, it's because it used to just include the Princesses but I decided to add the other Disney females to the list!)
For the sake of organization, I have chosen to divide the characters by "regions", which include: Pacific, Rocky Mountain, Southwest/Desert, Midwest, Northeast & Southeast (there are pictures to show which specific states are included in these regions.)
Alice: Portland, Oregon
"Portland, Oregon’s largest city, sits on the Columbia and Willamette rivers, in the shadow of snow-capped Mount Hood. It’s known for its parks, bridges and bicycle paths, as well as for its eco-friendliness and its microbreweries and coffeehouses. Iconic Washington Park encompasses sites from the formal Japanese Garden to Oregon Zoo and its railway. The city hosts thriving art, theater and music scene." This city is known for being very eclectic, artistic and creative - with primarily liberal leanings. Besides it's cultural options - such as the Washington Park, Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (planetarium, submarine, etc.) and Pittock Mansion - this city also has a lot of natural beauty nearby - such as the Multnomah Falls, Mount Saint Helens and Cannon Beach. This would be a perfect "Wonderland" fitting for Alice.
Alana: Beverly Hills, California
"Home to many Hollywood stars, it features the upscale shopping street of Rodeo Drive. The expansive Beverly Gardens Park has fountains and rose gardens, plus an illuminated Beverly Hills sign." Alana appreciates beauty and the finer things in life, so what better place than Beverly Hills? Furthermore, she's into organic cosmetology - something that would be very welcomed in Beverly Hills!
Anita: San Franciso, California
"San Francisco, in northern California, is a hilly city on the tip of a peninsula surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. It's known for its year-round fog, iconic Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars and colorful Victorian houses." (Very similar to London.) A perfect city for Anita to walk her dog and encourage her husband's music career.
Mei: Santa Monica, California
Santa Monica is a very popular place for people who just want to have a lot of fun. The Pier offers a beautifully-lit boardwalk (including the ferris wheel), as well as Pacific Park - a miniature "amusement park" with rides, games and an arcade - on the pier itself. Not only are there little shops on this pier as well, but there is also essentially an indoor and outdoor mall located just blocks away! Since Mei loves the idea of just having fun and being in love, this would be a perfect place for her to enjoy her time with Yao.
Nani: Honolulu, Hawaii
Not only does Honolulu have a ton to offer, but most importantly to Nani, it is home of "The father of modern surfing" who was "instrumental in helping to spread the sport of surfing and the spirit of aloha around the world." Today, Honolulu is still known as one of the best spots on earth to go surfing. Since Nani seemed to love surfing more than anything - as it often helped her forget about her worries - it's hard to imagine she'd want to live anywhere else.
Lilo: Venice, California
Lilo was always a "black sheep" in the sense that her peers always treated her like the "weird outcast" - or at least since she'd lost her parents. From an objective point of view, Lilo isn't very traditional or stereotypical etc. She loves Elvis - and presumably Rock & Roll, has a very morbid artistic taste, and has a lot of feelings. Venice Beach is "most famous for the quirky goings-on along its iconic beachfront boardwalk, where street entertainers and vendors create an unforgettable scene of local characters and happenings". In this town, she wouldn't be a "weird outcast", she'd be one of the "local characters" (along with Stitch 😄). She also loves swimming in the ocean - so living in an ocean town is imperative for her. And speaking of water, this town also has some beautiful little canals that I think Lilo would appreciate.
Rapunzel: Seattle, Washington
"While here, you can meet artisan makers, shop indie boutiques and designer fashions, admire priceless works of art, sing your heart out at a karaoke club, explore like a local in the city’s diverse neighborhoods, and enjoy nature—all without ever having to leave the city. No matter what you’re looking for, the perfect adventure awaits." This city has the perfect balance of intellectual curiosity, creativity, open-mindedness and natural beauty for Rapunzel - She'd have so much fun, she'd never want to leave!
Merida: Berkeley, California
Berkeley is likely the most liberal city in California, and may very well be one of the most liberal cities in America. Because of Merida's personal values and specific personality, she'd be a perfect fit here.
Minneapolis is a city rich in culture and education. There are a lot of nice museums and tourist attractions such as the Walker Art Center, Como Park Zoo & Conservatory, Lyndale Park Gardens, Mississippi National River and Recreation Area and other parks and reserves. I think Cinderella would appreciate all of these beautiful outdoor locations - especially since it's so reminiscent of the courtyard where she fell in love and danced with the Prince. Furthermore, the residents tend to be very nice, humble, productive and friendly - just like Cinderella, so she'd fit in perfectly.
Shanti: Cincinnati, Ohio
"Cityscapes, river views, rolling hills and endless things to do, makes Cincinnati a perfect location for families." Like many mid-west locations, this city has a great family environment which is important to someone like Shanti, who is constantly looking after children - even when she's still a child herself! This family-friendly city has tons of fun stuff to do without losing too much of the natural landscape around, a combination that Shanti would appreciate!
Eilonwy: Grand Rapids, Michigan
"Experience the creative energy of Grand Rapids: dazzling art and culture, awesome dining and nightlife, inspiring natural beauty and exhilarating community spirit. Stroll our walkable downtown jam-packed with more than 100 restaurants, clubs, theaters and museums." Since Eilonwy is a very sensitive and caring person, she would love the artistic and compassionate nature in this town. She also has a lively and energetic spirit, so she would also appreciate the communal feel of all of the festivals as well as theaters and museums etc. This would be a perfect fit for Eilonwy's friendly disposition.
Aquata: Green Bay, Wisconsin
"In addition to being known around the world for contributions to industry and agriculture, Green Bay is the smallest city to host a National Football League team. Founded in 1919, the 13-time National Champion Green Bay Packers are the only NFL team to be owned by its fans. Residents who move away to another city, often return home for the quality of life, family-friendly values and strong business community - not to mention the area's contagious spirit and personality." Since Aquata is an adamant sports lover and comes from a big family, she would greatly appreciate the atmosphere and environment here. This would be the perfect kind of "home" for her.
Belle: Chicago, Illinois
"Welcome to Chicago, the city that feels like home. Here we have a little something for everyone. You can visit world-class museums, dine at one of our many Michelin-star restaurants or catch a showin one of over 200 theaters. No matter what you love to do, you’ll feel right at home doing it here." "Chicago is a cultural hub with countless theaters and music venues. Enjoy the waterfront views from Navy Pier and then take a walk through time at the Chicago Natural History Museum." Belle seems to appreciate what life has to offer and has a yearning to experience new things. Chicago has a perfect balance of progress and tradition for her, as she is somewhat progressive and seeks change, knowledge and education, but she is also very modest and more conservative, putting family values first. Chicago has great museums and tourism which would allow her to learn and experience new things but it also maintains the classic mid-west vibe of being family-friendly.
Nakoma: Springfield, Missouri
"Springfield is a city in southwestern Missouri. The Discovery Center of Springfield has interactive science exhibits on topics from DNA to dinosaurs. To the north, Dickerson Park Zoo features animals from around the world, plus train rides. Trams run through a cave filled with stalagmites and flowstones at Fantastic Caverns. The Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park has trails and botanical gardens... Enjoy the beauty of the Ozarks in one of our pristine parks, trails, rivers or streams. It's no wonder Springfield is considered the Gateway to the Great Outdoors." Nakoma would love the balance of society and civilization with the preservation and appreciation of the outdoors here. She would also find great comfort with the family-oriented community and presence of strong moral values.
Jane: Ann Arbor, Michigan
"Ann Arbor is a city west of Detroit, in the Midwestern state of Michigan. It’s home to the sprawling University of Michigan, known for its research programs. The University of Michigan Museum of Art displays works from around the globe and spanning centuries. Science-focused attractions in the city include the Museum of Natural History and the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum, with kid-friendly interactive exhibits." This cultural hub would be the perfect fit for someone as intellectually curious and open-minded as Jane is. She would also appreciate the balance of 'progressive values' when it comes to art and science with the 'traditional' values when it comes to home and family.
Ting-Ting: Indianapolis, Indiana
From the largest single-day sporting event in the world to the largest children’s museum in the world, it's easy to see that Indianapolis' culture thrives on being tough and family-oriented, as well as responsible and dutiful. Since Ting-Ting holds these values with the highest regards, she would absolutely love this place as her perfect home.
Tiana: St. Louis, Missouri
St. Louis is a major city in Missouri along the Mississippi River. Its iconic, 630-ft. Gateway Arch, built in the 1960s, honors the early 19th-century explorations of Lewis and Clark and America's westward expansion in general. Replica paddlewheelers [riverboats] ply the river, offering views of the arch. The Soulard district is home to barbecue restaurants and clubs playing blues music. Steamboats, BBQ food and blues music would help Tiana feel right at home in this new town! On the other hand, this town has a population that is more hard-working and ambitious than that of New Orleans, a change that Tiana would more than welcome into her life! No more dealing with an 'old town that can slow you down' with 'people taking the easy way'.
